Rules & Charts

THE DRAFT

  1. Keepers: 1 per league member … lose that round’s pick if you apply “keeper” privilege of previous year drafted player or minor league team player (assumes you retained the player or acquired him via trade the previous year). Can’t possess the same “Keeper” a 3rd consecutive draft.

  2. Draft Order: 3-dice role with highest total person claiming “preferred draft position” and so on down the line.

  3. Minor Leaguers: drafting of 5 full teams each in draft system – rounds 16, 21, 28, 29 and 30.

  4. Ballparks: determined by manager per any of the teams drafted.  Must notify league 24 hours after draft is completed.

REGULAR SEASON PLAY

  1. Strat-O-Matic Rules: allow all league members to read in advance and propose play under the complete super advanced game rules (will not apply weather effects, individual balks, wild pitches, passed balls, blocking the plate).

  2. No DH rule. MANY NL PITCHERS HAVE HITTING CARDS.  WHEN YOU USE A PITCHER FOR HITTING, USE HIS ACTUAL HITTING CARD IF HE HAS ONE.  PITCHERS CAN PINCH RUN AND PINCH BUNT (must still bunt if get a “1&2” result).

  3. Roster expansion to 40 after 68 games.

  4. Trading Deadline: both teams must not have played their 55th game and batter’s plate appearances/pitcher’s innings restrictions apply.  A team cannot trade away more than a 50 point value (#1=25pts, #2=24pts, etc.) of the next year’s draft choices. Disregard minor league teams drafted in this calculation.

  5. Unless there is an injury, you cannot make a move from your minor leagues until the end of a series. Courtesy of providing your 25-man roster to opposing team prior to start of a series is expected.

  6. Managers cannot make moves that will force a player to play a defensive position that his card doesn’t allow him to play. Only injuries can cause this to happen. Opposing team gets to pick the replacement player (non-pitcher unless only pitchers remaining on the bench) and the replacement player takes on the worst possible defensive rating/throwing arm unless Strat-O-Matic rules have a different proviso.

  7. Will be courtesy to announce injuries by email distribution to all league members.

  8. If a player is utilized after his allotted PAs or INNINGS, it is a forfeit of the game. Manager in error should self-report or opposing manager must protest within 7 days to gain the forfeit.

  9. Player Ejection Rule: in any game when an HBP occurs 3 times within 3 innings (regardless of team) OR upon the 4th  total HBP of the game, then the pitcher, hitter, or both can be ejected. On the 20-sided die, 1-8 ejects the pitcher, 9-16 ejects the hitter, 17-20 ejects them both.

  • In addition to the pitcher/hitter, other players can also be ejected. Each manger rolls 3 dice. If the role of 3 dice totals 9 or less, no additional players are ejected. If the role of 3 dice totals 10 or more, additional players are ejected.  If the total is 10-14, one additional player is ejected. If the total is 15-18, two additional players are ejected.

  • Determining additional ejected players – assign number to each player based upon position being played (DH = 10).  Include the “already ejected” pitcher or hitter in this listing, for if that number comes up on the 20 side die you actually save an additional player from being injured.  Manager assigns a number 11-20 to his players still game eligible before ejections.  Roll 20 sided dice 1 or 2 times (depending on 3 dice total) to discover which additional players are ejected.

PITCHING

  1. Starting pitchers that do not have “relief pitching status” on their card will not be able to enter a game they have not started unless it is after inning 11 or due to another starter being injured prior to the 5th inning (reliever “1” status).

  2. Pitchers will all be allowed 55% of their actual innings printed on their card (.5 or higher always rounds up, .499 or under always rounds down go the next full inning).

  3. Pitchers can be used as pinch bunters and pinch runners.

  4. Relief pitchers may not pitch three consecutive days.

HITTING

  1. Hitters will be allowed 55% of their actual PAs (ABs + Walks) printed on their card (.5 or higher always rounds up, .499 or under always rounds down).

  2. 6 “special players” that each team is eligible to use once each during the regular season.

POSTSEASON PLAY

  1. 3 teams qualify. 1st place team is in the WS, 2nd & 3rd place teams have a 5 game playoff with alternating home field (2-2-1). 1 day of rest after the regular season.

  2. 7 game WS with 1st place team getting 4 home games (2-3-2). If team sweeps playoff round 1, then a day of rest is considered to have happened before the start of the WS.
